Search Lawton Marriage Records Online
The OSCN case search is the primary free tool for finding Lawton marriage records. Select "Comanche" from the county list. Choose "Marriage License" as the case type. Enter at least a last name and search. No account or fee required. The system is available around the clock.
Search results display the case number, both names, and the filing date. Some entries let you view documents as PDFs. OSCN does not show the certificate image, witness names, or who performed the ceremony. For those details, contact the Comanche County Court Clerk. If a search turns up nothing, try alternate spellings or check maiden names. Records go back to the 1990s online. Older Lawton marriage records may need to be pulled from the physical files at the courthouse.
The On Demand Court Records site provides the same data in a different layout. It is a good backup when OSCN is slow or returning unexpected results. The OK2Explore health department portal can help you cross-check names.

Lawton Marriage License Requirements
Both applicants must be at least 18 under Oklahoma Statutes Title 43. Ages 16 to 17 need parental consent and a certified birth certificate. Under 16 takes a court order. No blood test is required. There is no residency rule. Many couples at Fort Sill are from out of state, and they can still get a license in Lawton as long as the ceremony takes place somewhere in Oklahoma.
The license stays valid for 10 days. After the ceremony, the officiant and two witnesses who are 18 or older sign the document. The signed license goes back to the Comanche County Court Clerk within 5 days. That creates the permanent Lawton marriage record. Ministers do not need to pre-register credentials under Title 43, Section 7. If either person was divorced in Oklahoma within six months, they cannot remarry anyone other than their former spouse during that period.
Note: Military service members stationed at Fort Sill can use a military ID to apply for a marriage license in Lawton regardless of their home state.

What Lawton Marriage Records Contain
A Lawton marriage record at the Comanche County courthouse has three parts. The Affidavit on Application lists both names, ages, and ID info. The Marriage License is the document the clerk issues. After the ceremony, the Certificate of Marriage gets signed by the officiant and two witnesses. That certificate is returned to the clerk and filed permanently as the Lawton marriage record.
Most records include full names, ages, and the ceremony date. Older records may include the bride's marital status, birthplace, or parent names. OSCN shows applicant names and the license date but not the certificate image or witness details. For a full copy, contact the Comanche County clerk at (580) 355-5214.
