Marriage License Rules in Beaver County
Oklahoma law requires that applicants be at least 18 years old with a valid ID to get a marriage license. People aged 16 or 17 can apply with a parent or guardian present to sign a consent form, plus they need a certified birth certificate. Anyone under 16 needs a court order. There is no blood test in Beaver County or anywhere in Oklahoma. No residency requirement exists. You can come from out of state, but the ceremony must take place within Oklahoma's borders.
Adults face no waiting period. Applicants under 18 must wait 72 hours unless a judge waives that requirement. If someone was divorced in Oklahoma within the past six months, they are restricted from marrying anyone except their former spouse during that time. This rule is specific to Oklahoma divorces. A divorce from Kansas, Texas, or any other state does not trigger the same hold. The Beaver County Court Clerk verifies this before the license gets issued.
Under Title 43, Section 7 of Oklahoma Statutes, ministers and other officiants no longer register their credentials with the court. This change went into effect on November 1, 2022. The officiant signs the marriage certificate to verify their authority. Two witnesses aged 18 or older are still required at the ceremony.
